All People’s Breakfast

The Pikes Peak Justice & Peace Commission, in partnership with the Martin Luther King Holiday Committee, Colorado Springs Branch NAACP, Colorado Springs Diversity Forum, Colorado Springs Utilities and Colorado College, invites the community to celebrate the national Martin Luther King Jr. holiday with an All People’s Breakfast at 8 a.m. on Jan. 17 at Colorado College’s Cornerstone Arts Center. The theme will be “Immigration Reform: Today’s Civil Rights Struggle.” Keynote speaker Polly Baca (the first Latina elected to the Colorado House of Representatives and later to the Colorado Senate) will be joined by diverse readers and gospel music artists Rev. Dennis Mose & Friends. Tickets are $7 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the PPJPC Peace Scholarship, which is awarded every spring to a local college-bound student activist. To RSVP, get more information or join the event team, contact Steve at dynamic@ppjpc.org.
