Citizens Project to educate, empower at Citizens’ Religious Freedom Institute
What: Citizens Project is proud to present the Citizens’ Religious Freedom Institute, a one day seminar on how the First Amendment to the US Constitution protects religious freedom in public schools.
Who: The event is for teachers, students, parents, administrators, staff, school board members, and open to the public. Teachers can earn 8 hours of in-service credit and graduate credit through UCCS is also available.
When: Saturday, March 12, 2011, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; half-day options for general public
Where: University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (map)
Cost: $25 for general participants and those seeking in-service credit (includes lunch); $145 for graduate credit (includes lunch)
Participants will learn:
- How the law defines religious freedom in the public school setting,
- Best practices for teaching about religion without endorsing it, and
- How to be an advocate to ensure your school protects your rights.
