Citizens Project upholds the traditional A merican value, articulated in our U.S. and Colorado Constitutions, of church and state separation. Religious freedom in America and the flourishing of a diversity of religions in modern-day America owe much to the ideal of keeping the state separate from religion. However, a great deal of confusion exists around what is, and is not, permissible - especially in public schools.

Public Education
There can be no equality in our nation without equal access to quality public education that does not discriminate based on race, creed, economic condition, ethnicity, color, religion, national origin, resident immigrant status, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military or veteran status, political affiliation organizational membership, or physical or mental disability. Citizens Project works to defend public education against religious incursions such as teaching creationism, and against efforts at privatization such as vouchers.
