Kathy Dreiling and partner Michelle Talarico opened the Picnic Basket Catering Co. in 1989. They have since added two additional catering companies to the list with Cravings Catering in 1999- facilitating upscale and large events and Buffalo Gals Grilling Co. in 2002  featuring Santa Maria style barbeque. Dreiling and Talarico were the second woman-owned business owners to be named small business persons of the year by the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce in 1995.  Named “Best Colorado Caterer outside of Denver Metro” by Colorado Meeting and Event Planners, the company also ranked in the top 100 women-owned business in Colorado for the last decade and have been named “Best Colorado Springs Caterer” for nineteen consecutive years. 

Kathy attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas and graduated with a communications/music degree in 1980. She performed professionally for many years as a member of the group “Appaloosa” and worked for Graham Advertising as a media buyer prior to opening the Picnic Basket Catering Company in 1989. She is a current member of the Colorado Springs Executive Association, and along with Michelle, has been an ally for many Colorado Springs Non-profits and community organizations such as Urban Peak, Colorado Springs Conservatory, The Humane Society, Pikes Peak Hospice and Trails & Open Space. Kathy resides in Colorado Springs along with her partner Michelle and son Sam.
