Earlier this year we asked you, our loyal friends and supporters, to give us feedback about our work and impact. Thanks to the participation of 100 Citizens Project supporters, we learned a lot about our organization, including our strengths and our challenges. Last night 125 community members gathered at Citizens Project’s Divine Award Celebration on February 11 to honor the 2014 Divine Award recipient, June Waller, and the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Recipient, Judy Noyes. Rosemary Harris Lytle, 2012 Divine Award recipient, emceed the evening and 2009 Divine Award recipient Richard Skorman presented Judy Noyes’s award to her husband, Dick Noyes, after delivering a beautiful speech about both of their amazing contributions to the Colorado Springs community. Then, following a powerful “Top Ten Reasons June Waller is Divine” Presentation, past award recipients presented Ms Waller with the 2014 Award....

The Divine Award is given annually to a person whose commitment to diversity, equality and religious freedom has impacted the community in positive and lasting ways. The award simultaneously recognizes the accomplishments of its recipient and honors the legacy of Amy Divine, the founder of Citizens Project, who dedicated her energy to championing traditional American values of equal rights, individual freedoms, separation of church and state, civic engagement and respect for diversity.

Citizens Project to honor Sharon Friedman with Divine Award
Citizens Project is pleased to announce our ninth annual Divine Award Celebration, an event that honors an individual in the Pikes Peak region who has worked tirelessly to create a vibrant democracy in which equal rights are protected and differences are respected.
This year’s honoree is Sharon Friedman-producer, long-time community director, arts advocate, teacher, therapist, activist, associate publisher and environmentalist.
Previous recipients include Mary Lou Makepeace, Dr. Jim White, Pam Jones and Juliet Draper (shared award), Lorne Kramer, Richard Skorman, John Weiss, Mary Ellen McNally, and Rosemary Harris Lytle.

Citizens Project to Honor Rosemary Harris Lytle with 2012 Divine Award
Citizens Project's Divine Award Celebration annually honors a member of our community who is dedicated to promote lasting, positive changes related to equality, diversity, and religious freedom. We are proud to present this year's award to Rosemary Harris Lytle, award-winning journalist, activist, Communications Director for ACLU of Colorado, and President of the local NAACP.
