Religious Freedom
Religious Freedom can only be preserved by keeping church and state separate, and Citizens Project works to uphold this traditional American value in local government and public schools. Both secular and faith communities thrive best when no one religion is promoted in the public sphere and individuals are empowered to celebrate their own unique religious beliefs.
Public Education
Citizens Project promotes quality public education that does not discriminate on any basis or favor any one segment of our diverse community. We work to create an atmosphere of understanding and inclusion in our local public schools through education, and we defend public education against religious incursions such as teaching creationism, school-sponsored prayer, and privatization efforts.

Public Displays
In 2009, Jesus Is Alive! banners appeared on city-owned light poles in downtown Colorado Springs. The use of public property to promote a religious belief struck many in our community – including Citizens Project – as a government endorsement of religion that could disenfranchise citizens whose religious beliefs did not align with the banners’ message. Through our work with local government, we seek to create a community where people of all different faiths and backgrounds feel included and celebrated.
