On Monday, February 27th, Citizens Project participated in One Colorado’s LGBT Lobby Day. Over 300 Coloradans turned out to meet with legislators in the House and Senate to discuss HB17-1122 which seeks to enable transgender people to more easily align their birth certificate with their identity, HB17-1156 which will prohibit conversion therapy from being performed on minors by licensed mental health providers, and HB17-1188 which would add sexual orientation and physical or mental disability to the list of bias-motivated harassment categories.
1156 is scheduled for discussion on the House floor on March 6th. 1122 and 1188 will be heard by the House Judiciary committee on Mar 9th. Once a bill passes out of committee, it is voted on then passed to the other chamber, where it must be voted out of its assigned committee and voted on again. You can make your voice known by finding your legislators at leg.colorado.gov and getting in touch with them as soon as possible.
