2019 Creating Community Breakfast

Citizens Project is a local nonprofit 501(c)3 organization spotlighting issues in the Pikes Peak region and mobilizing people to strengthen our community by promoting equity, inclusion, separation of church and state, civic engagement, and social justice. We educate the community through our online newsletter and nonpartisan voter guides, we monitor local government and public schools to ensure that rights and freedoms are upheld, and we mobilize residents to make their voices heard.

Citizens Project is a fearless, bold advocate and an engaging voice that empowers and challenges our entire community to embrace equity, inclusion, and justice.

We envision a Pikes Peak community that is a vibrant democracy in which equal rights are protected, individual freedoms are secure, differences are respected, and people fully participate in civic and community life.

Our Focus:

Equity and Inclusion: Citizens Project works to educate and empower people in the Pikes Peak region to move towards true inclusion. Through our outreach, we seek to promote equity in our public spaces and challenge community members to uphold this value.

Separation of Church and State: Citizens Project believes that both secular and faith communities thrive best when no one religion is promoted in the public sphere and individuals are empowered to celebrate their own unique religious beliefs. Citizens Project promotes public education that does not discriminate on any basis or favor any one segment of our diverse community.

Civic Engagement: A vibrant democracy requires that voters be informed, have access to communicate with elected leaders, and have the opportunity to help shape public policy. Citizens Project ensures protection of our local democracy through protecting the right to vote, hosting educational forums, publishing voter guides, and working collaboratively with community to promote equitable public policy.
